Common Questions
General
Yes, you'll need a referral from your GP or another specialist. This helps me
understand your medical history and ensures you can claim any Medicare rebates
you're entitled to.
You can call my rooms directly or use our online booking form. My staff will help
you find the soonest available time that works for you.
Yes. For certain appointments — like follow-up reviews or some initial discussions
— we can arrange a telehealth consultation so you don't need to travel.
Obstetrics
Ideally, as soon as you find out you are pregnant. This allows us to confirm your
pregnancy, start important early screening, and plan your care.
Antenatal visits usually start between 6–8 weeks of pregnancy. You'll typically
see me every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and weekly
until your baby arrives. This schedule is personalised to your pregnancy, with
more frequent visits if needed.
Absolutely. Having a trusted support person can make your visits more comfortable
and reassuring.
Yes. I work with you to create a birth plan that reflects your wishes while
keeping safety the top priority.
Yes. If it's safe for you and your baby, we can discuss VBAC as an option and make
a personalised plan together.
We'll talk through all options — including vaginal birth and caesarean section —
so you can make an informed choice that's right for you and your baby.
Not always — many women can have a VBAC safely. We'll assess your individual
circumstances and discuss what's best for you.
Gynaecology
Most women need screening every 5 years, but this can vary depending on your
history. We'll make a plan that's right for you.
We'll explore all possibilities — from medication and hormonal treatments to
minimally invasive surgery — and choose what best suits your needs and lifestyle.
If pelvic pain is affecting your daily life, it's worth having it checked. The
earlier we identify the cause, the sooner we can help you feel better.
No — while mild discomfort can be normal, severe or disruptive pain is not
something you should ignore. Conditions like endometriosis can be treated.
Surgery
This technique uses tiny cuts instead of a large incision, which can mean less
pain, smaller scars, and a faster recovery.
Robotic surgery uses advanced technology to help me perform complex procedures
with even greater precision. It can be particularly helpful for deep
endometriosis, hysterectomy, and fibroid removal.
Recovery time varies depending on the type of surgery, but I'll give you clear
instructions and support to help you get back to normal as quickly and safely as
possible.
Not quite — there will be very small scars, but they are usually barely noticeable
once healed.
